Instant response to yearning prayer
t was in mid forties that just at the entrance to the Kutia (Babaji's
Thaath) we noticed a person weeping. Father asked him if he could be of
any help to him. The person named Balwant Singh was weeping in sacred
remembrance of Holy Babaji. He narrated a wonderful personal experience
of his. He was serving overseas in the Army in the second world war. He
alongwith another companion had to hide underground in enemy's territory
when ambushed on patrol duty. They starved for three days. He added:
Our plight was miserable. A yearning prayer arose from the depths of my heart in a pathetic cry to Babaji to save us from imminent death. It was a distress call never made by me before and instant was the divine rescue.
Within a short time a feminine voice called us out. We were afraid. She assured us all help as She had been sent there by the Lord. We came out. An old lady had brought food and water. She served us with all the possible affection and respect. A devout christian from a close-by village; She had been blessed with the holy vision of the Great saviour Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj and instructed to take food and water for us. She took us to her house and later arranged to guide us to our unit.
As he narrated all this, he bitterly cried like a child in the holy memory of the supreme saviour, the true Lord of life and death. Many persons had meanwhile collected there and father consoled Balwant Singh with the warmth and affection of a father.
Draupadi had made a distress call to Lord Krishna in her miserable plight in the court of Duryodhan and was saved. Makhan Shah Lubana made a similar distress call on Sri Guru Nanak Sahib when his ship loaded with valuables was in danger of imminent disaster on the vast seas. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib rescued the ship and saved Makhan Shah Lubana.
Such a distress call for rescue emanated from the core of Balwant Singh 's heart. How wonderful, unique and mysterious are the ways in which the Lord reaches out to His devotees at their hour of dire need.
This direct experience of Balwant Singh reveals how wonderful and miraculous is mere remembrance of Holy Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj.
Just a mere thought of His Holy name saves a drowning man, liberates a dying person, rescues and elevates a sinking soul. Mere remembrance of His Holy name is so purifying, so uplifting and so liberating in its effect. Such is the powerful impact of the purity of His name and incarnation.
Aapay Nam Japavay
Jah Jah Kaj Kirt Sewak Ki
Taha Taha Uth Dhavay
Sewak Kau Nikati Hoi Dilhavay
Sri Guru Arjan Sahib in this hymn magnifies the concern of the Lord for His devotees:
In response to the plight of His servant the Lord rushes to his rescue.
And manifests His immediate presence there.
Any prayer made to Him from the heart was instantly heard by Him thousands of miles away. Any prayer directed to Him even after His physical disappearance was and is instantly responded.
How wonderful and reassuring is the evidence of His Eternal Existence and Eternal presence, derived from such soul-stirring experiences. Mysterious and subtle are the ways in which Mahan Babaji reaches out to His devotees all over the globe even now. i.e. sixty eight years after His seeming physical disappearance from the world scene. This more than anything else highlights HIS ETERNAL GLORY.
This incident also proves beyond doubt that His spiritual force permeates the whole universe.
